Technical Information

Wylye Pottery is a range of handmade earthenware pottery. Each piece is handcrafted (not moulded), and glazed and brings with it an individuality and quality only present in the handmade market.

We currently use three glazes, blue, cream and green and each item is available in any of these colours. There is a bonus colour of cream with a splash of green which is so unique and absolutely stunning, particularly in showy pieces.

The pottery and glaze are fired to a higher than normal temperature which gives it its hardwearing charactistic. A dinner service in constant use will look as good as new  ten years from now, with minimal, if no, scarring from knives and very few chips or breakages. However, if you do break a piece, you can be reassurred that it will be possible to replace it and not find, as with most high street ranges, that it has been discontinued.

All pottery is dishwasher safe but not oven safe unless specified otherwise.

Within our product range, we have shown you some of our more popular pieces, but we welcome commissions for individual pieces or designs to suit your requirements. We will not tell you what a dinner service consists of - you tell us what you would like! Please contact us to discuss this further.

One of the great features of handmade pottery is that each mug, jug and bowl is unique, therefore, if you order a set of 6 mugs, they will not be identical. They will vary slightly in size and colour. Identical pieces can only be achieved in mass production moulds. However, if we fire your chosen pieces at the same time, they are more likely to be similar in colour than items from different batches. This may be important to you, it is not for everyone.

Delivery

All items are made to order and therefore, depending on our firing schedule, you should receive delivery within 1 to 4 weeks. Once we have received your order, we will notify you of the expected delivery date, but we will endeavour to ship your new pottery as soon as possible.

All orders are packaged and shipped by courier to ensure their safe arrival to you. However, if a product is damaged during transit, it should be notified to us within 48 hours and we will replace and collect damaged item.
